The “Big Bundle Up” keeps students and families warm
Many area youth and their families can “bundle up” better this winter thanks to the generous donations of local residents. The Manitowish Waters Chamber of Commerce collected more than 200 warm clothing items that were donated to the community outreach program at the North Lakeland Elementary School. This program was part of the Department of Tourism’s “Big Bundle Up” campaign which collected a grand total of 17,155 warm clothing items, including hats, scarves, coats and mittens. The total amount was more than five times what was collected during last year’s campaign.
Representatives of the North Lakeland Elementary School accepted the donations from representatives of the Manitowish Waters Chamber of Commerce. In a thank you note sent to the chamber of commerce, the students wrote, “Thank you for your donations and your support for the ‘Big Bundle Up.’ They will help many families in need.”
