Chamber members wanted for Rhinelander Girlfriends Getaway
The Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce is planning a new event in 2013 that has the goal of bringing women into the area for a weekend getaway that will benefit the chamber's lodging, business and restaurant members.
The premise of the event is to welcome women the first weekend of May, which is also the opening weekend of fishing season, and offer them workshops on Saturday, May 4. Those attending would be welcomed with a "Taste of Rhinelander" on Friday night. They would participate in workshops Saturday and enjoy a brunch Sunday.
The Rhinelander Area Chamber needs member businesses to host these workshops. Members would decide what they want to teach, class size and how much they want to charge the ladies to cover the cost of supplies and the members' time. This event would get potential customers into local stores. A variety of workshops is desired, anything from photography to crafts, but ultimately, members will decide what to offer. The workshops would be held twice on May 4 from 10:30 a.m. to noon and from 1:30 to 3 p.m., giving members the opportunity to teach the same class to two different groups of women. Class creation is on a first come, first serve basis, ensuring there wouldn't be multiple classes on the same topic.
Those who prefer not to hold a workshop but who would like to offer pampering services such as manicures, massages, etc., at a discount that weekend should notify the chamber. Those services would also be announced to the women attending.
Member businesses who participate in this event will be included in the information the chamber gives to the women attending. Participating businesses will be welcome to have a table at "Taste of Rhinelander" that Friday night. The tables are offered as displays to show samples of what each business has to offer. It is not necessary for a business to have someone present to oversee the table.
The staff at the chamber is looking forward to this event as a way to get new people into Rhinelander and show them all the community has to offer.
Member businesses that are interested in participating may contact the chamber at (715) 365-7464 to obtain a registration form. Completed forms must be returned to the chamber by Jan. 7, 2013.
