Obituary: James "Gene" Armstrong

James “Gene” Armstrong, 77, of Rhinelander died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at Friendly Village. He was born May 15, 1935, in Millington, Tenn., to James S. and Hattie E. Armstrong. He is survived by his wife, Pearl Armstrong, of Rhinelander; children Maria, Barb and Frank; stepchildren Gene, Ronald, Faith Ann and Thomas; his stepfather, Bill; in-laws; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Julie; and a brother. Mr. Armstrong served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He enjoyed children and animals, and was an avid hunter and trapper. A private family gathering honoring him will be held at a later date. (Carlson Funeral Home)
