Leanna K. Kossack, age 17, of Rhinelander, died on Monday, January 28, 2013 at her home.
She was born in Racine, Wisconsin, the daughter of Michael J. Kossack and Jaimie L. Kossack. Leanna attended Rhinelander High School.
Leanna’s faith and belief in Christianity assisted her in her journey in life and ultimately in dealing with her cancer.
Leanna enjoyed her newfound freedom in obtaining her driver’s license. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and working at Dairy Queen. She had just begun looking at colleges to attend to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse.
Surviving are her loving parents, Jaimie Kossack and Jessie Kaster of Rhinelander, and Michael Kossack of Racine, WI; four brothers, Kelvin (Sofia) Keigher, Richard Michael Kossack, Jordan Kaster and Matthew Kossack; four sisters, Marissa Kaster, Alyssa Kossack, Kayla Kossack and Katelynn Kaster; maternal grandparents, John (Ann) McMullen of Rhinelander; paternal grandparents, Bonnie (Brian) Bolster of Racine, Wolfgang Kossack of Racine; paternal-step-grandparents, Dennis (Susan) Kaster of Green Bay, WI. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She is further survived by her BFF Katelyn Browning of Rhinelander.
A celebration of Leanna’s life will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2013 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Bugsy’s Restaurant, located at 16 N. Brown Street, Rhinelander.
A formal graveside service will be held at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery in Racine, WI.
One of Leanna’s last requests was to keep the Leanna Kossack Sarcoma Foundation alive to benefit other children who are fighting cancer. Memorials may be directed to any Wells Fargo or Associated Bank in her honor or to P.O. Box 433 Rhinelander, Wisconsin 54501.
