Obituary: Dr. Robert Hildebrand

Robert Hildebrand, PhD, 79, of Rhinelander died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. He was born Dec. 22, 1933, in Rhinelander to Dorothy and John Leo Hildebrand. He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons Robert P. (Kim Urso) Hildebrand of Island Lake, Ill., John Leo Hildebrand of Rhinelander and Michael E. (Adria Ashby) Hildebrand of Edwardsville, Ill.; sisters Betty Dickson of Rhinelander and Peg Eilers of St. Paul, Minn.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas and Richard Hildebrand, both of Rhinelander, and his sister, Jane Metcalf of Seymour. Dr. Hildebrand was fluent in German and served in Army intelligence on the German-Czech border during the Cold War. Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hildebrand-Russ Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry. (Hildebrand-Russ Funeral Home)
