Still time to register for Nicolet's winter break, spring semester classes
Nicolet College will offer four classes over winter break that will give students the chance to earn three college credits in just over two weeks.
"The classes offered over winter break are a great way for students to get an extra jump on their college education," said Rose Prunty, dean of the University Transfer Liberal Arts program at Nicolet. "Students can use these accelerated classes to reduce the number of credits they take spring semester, catch up on credits, or, for students who are home for break, transfer these credits back to the college they attend during the regular school year."
Classes will be held Monday through Friday, Jan. 2 to Jan. 18, and the times they'll meet on the Nicolet campus are as follows: Written Communication, 8 to 11:30 a.m.; English Composition 1, 12:30 to 4 p.m.; and Introduction to Psychology, 8 to 11:30 a.m.
The online class Math with Business Applications will run Jan. 2 to Jan. 22.
To register for any of these classes, contact the Welcome Center at (715) 365-4493 or (800) 544-3039, ext. 4493.
Regular spring semester classes start Jan. 23. "There's still time to register for spring semester classes, but we are encouraging anyone interested to do so promptly," said Kyle Gruening, Nicolet registrar. "Courses are filling fast."
Nicolet currently offers more than 70 degrees, diplomas and certificates, including the University Transfer Liberal Arts program, in which students complete the first two years of a bachelor's degree. Nicolet has numerous credit transfer agreements with four-year colleges and universities, including several that offer bachelor's degrees online that allow students to remain in the Northwoods.
Spring semester classes include core program courses as well as general education classes that are required in many programs.
Nicolet also offers numerous online classes to help students juggle family, work and college. "The flexibility online classes offer has really opened the door to college for many, many students," Gruening added. "There are still tests and deadlines, but students decide when they do the coursework," she said, adding that Nicolet offers excellent technical support for students taking online classes.
Nicolet also has career coaches and academic advisors on hand to help students determine what career and college credential is right for them. Financial aid is also available.
