This will be a weekly blog about a 12 week program being run at the YMCA in the Northwoods. This program is about is becoming healthy and staying Fit for Life!
As the last weeks wrap up, many participants are remaining competitive in the 'Fit for Life' program. Participants pushed themselves during bootcamps, workouts, and weekly challenge. Bootcamps consisted of more resistance training than cardio training this week. This change of pace has allowed some participants to gain some more muscle and lose some body fat. Many of the participants enjoyed the resistance training, and were able to progress because of the change.
The participant in the lead of the weight loss challenge, Loquita, made the comment before weighing in at the end of week 11, “nobody better come out of no where and win the weight loss challenge.” She also made the comment that she has worked very hard to be in the lead and does not want to lose it at this point. In order for a participant to even think about beating her, they would have to lose at least 12 pounds in the next seven days. This is not very common for participants to lose this amount, this late in the program.
Most participants are still working hard to continue losing weight. As a group participants have lost 6.4 lbs from week 10 to week 11. The majority of participants who weighed in at the end of week 11 lost weight. As a whole, participants have lost on average 6.4% of their body weight, and an average of 15.78 lbs each. These numbers prove that the participants of ‘Fit for Life’ are challenged, and committed to succeeding in creating a healthier lifestyle for themselves, and hopefully their families.
