Getting to know the ‘under 40’ professionals in the community

The Rhinelander advocacy group Forward Rhinelander recently selected 10 individuals from many nominations to represent the “Top 10” under the age of 40. This week the Star Journal introduces the final three winners, as told by the people who nominated them.
Matt Whalen
Matt came to the Rhinelander community in 2011 to join the growing regional accounting firm, Northland CPAs, where he serves as manager of taxation. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in accountancy from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, holds a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA).
In addition to being devoted to his young family and the Rhinelander outdoors, Matt stays connected and engaged in the Rhinelander community as a volunteer with the YMCA of the Northwoods Board of Directors, Kiwanis Club of Rhinelander, and serves on the Rhinelander Police and Fire Commission.
Tarsie Goes
Tarsie is the marketing director at Rhinelander Auto Center. During her nine-year tenure she has overseen all of the company’s marketing operations. Tarsie believes that giving willingly and being actively involved in the support of our communities provides her with professional and personal success.
She has a degree in graphic design from Nicolet College, and is recognized as a Rhinelander Chamber Ambassador, amateur radio operator, co-coordinator of the Rhinelander Car Show, and a local PR go-getter.
As a Tomahawk native, Tarsie is grateful for rooting her life in the Northwoods. sheenjoys quality time with her husband and three-year-old son at home in the picturesque Harrison area.
Matthew Berth
Matt is a Rhinelander native and a 2000 graduate of Rhinelander High School. He joined the U.S. Army in 2001 and was deployed to Iraq in 2003-04 and Afghanistan in 2008-09. Matt has been coaching youth hockey for five years and loves every minute.
