Werner R. “Zim” Zimmer, age 99 of Rhinelander, died Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born June 26, 1919, in Pigeon, Mich., to Rueben and Hannah (Boehner) Zimmer. He was drafted into the Army in June 1942 and fought in the Pacific theater during WWII, earning the Purple Heart.
Werner was preceded in death by his wife, Leona in 2015; seven brothers and sisters; many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Werner will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 27, at the Carlson Funeral Home, with Rev. Richard Krahn officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will take place in St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery in Harrison.
