Paddle Sport Demo Day at Hodag Park May 27
The Mel’s Trading Post annual Paddle Sport Demo Day is set for Sunday, May 27.
The event is open to the public and is free of charge. The annual demo day is a great opportunity for people to test canoes, kayaks and stand up paddleboards (SUPs) in the “real world.” The Demo will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., north of the swimming beach at Hodag Park in Rhinelander.
Factory representatives will be on hand with a selection of kayaks, SUPs and canoes to paddle. They will be able to answer questions on equipment and paddling technique. Anyone is welcome to test paddle as many of the boats as they wish. PFD’s and paddles will be provided.
Paddlers of all abilities can paddle a canoe or kayak that fits their specific needs. A wide range of canoes will be on site, from less expensive recreational models to the high-end Kevlar touring boats.
The Demo Day will feature Old Town, Wilderness Systems, Northstar Canoes and Eddyline kayaks. There will be kayaks for first-time paddlers as well as more experienced enthusiasts. In addition there will be stand up paddleboards from Red Paddle, Pau Hana, Jimmy Stykes and Connelly.
The Demo will take place, rain or shine! Interested people are advised to get there early to have the best chance to paddle all the boats they wish.
Further information is available at Mel’s Trading Post in downtown Rhinelander.
