Ron Solsrud, age 83 of Rhinelander, died Feb. 1, 2018, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born Aug. 8, 1934, in Milwaukee to Iver and Erva (Winkler) Solsrud.
During the Korean War, Ron served with the 8th Division as an artillery surveyor in the Army.
Ron is survived by his wife, Dolores of Rhinelander; children, Joan (Chris) Rhein of Rockton, Ill., Lynn (Chuck) Sutton of Elmhurst, Ill., Ron (Wendy) Solsrud of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dave Solsrud of Oslo, Norway, and Kris Solsrud of Rhinelander; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sister, Carol Nitz of Fond du Lac, and brother, Gerald Solsrud of Oconomowoc; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service for Ron will be held at noon Feb. 8, at the Carlson Funeral Home, with Rev. Richard Krahn officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Northland Memorial Park. A memorial in Ron’s name has been established for the benefit of the Serving Zion Endowment Fund and contributions may be directed in care of his family.
