BOYS SWIMMING: Hodags fall to Hatchets in season opener

The Rhinelander High School boys swimming team opened its season Tuesday with a Great Northern Conference dual meet at Tomahawk, where the Hodags fell to the Hatchets, 92-66.
RHS’s five first-place finishes included: Joseph Heck, Thaddeus Heck, David King and Russell Benoy, 200-yard medley relay (1 minute, 51.62 seconds); Benoy, 50 freestyle (24.54) and 100 backstroke (1:04.41); Devon Gaber, 100 freestyle (55.66); and Thaddeus Heck, 100 breaststroke (1:08.93).
The Hodags added six runner-up finishes that included: Joseph Heck, King, Benoy and Gaber, 400 freestyle relay (3:53.82); King, 200 freestyle (2:12.69) and 100 butterfly (59.2); Joseph Heck, 200 individual medley (2:25.55) and 500 freestyle (5:59.03); and Gaber, 50 freestyle (24.55).
RHS returns to action Thursday with another GNC dual meet at Medford.
