BOYS SOCCER: Hodags’ season ends in sectional semifinal
RHS finishes 16-4-2 overall

The season came to an end for the Rhinelander High School boys soccer team Thursday when the Hodags lost their WIAA Division 3 Sectional semifinal at home to Amherst/Iola-Scandinavia/Rosholt, 3-1.
Amherst/Iola-Scandinavia/Rosholt held a 1-0 lead at halftime after Carson Sneller scored the only goal of the first half.
RHS tied the game at 1-1 less than 4 minutes into the second half on a goal by Jonus Sabani.
Amherst/Iola-Scandinavia/Rosholt’s Lucas Hohn then scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal midway through the second half before the team added an insurance goal with less than 5 minutes to play.
The Hodags ended up with a 12-7 advantage in shots on goal. Josh Randolph made four saves and recorded the loss in net.
RHS ended the season 16-4-2 overall. Amherst/Iola-Scandinavia/Rosholt advanced to Saturday’s sectional championship game against Amery at Rice Lake.
