BOYS SOCCER: Hodags ground Thunderbirds, improve to 2-0 in GNC

In the second Great Northern Conference game this season, the Rhinelander High School boys soccer team once again did all the scoring Thursday evening when the Hodags defeated Lakeland Union High School, 3-0, at Mike Webster Stadium.
“We pretty much controlled the game from start to finish,” said RHS head coach Dan Millot.
The Hodags got onto the scoreboard 12:42 into the game with a goal from Matthew Von Oepen assisted by Freddy Wisner.
RHS extended its lead to 2-0 late in the first half when Von Oepen scored again assisted by Hunter Hicks.
The Hodags added their final goal early in the second half when Jonus Sabani scored assisted by Von Oepen.
RHS ended up with a 20-4 advantage in shots on goal with Josh Randolph tallying the shutout win in net.
The Hodags, who improved their season record to 2-0 in the GNC and 4-1-1 overall, next play in a quadrangular Saturday at Delavan-Darien High School.
