GIRLS SWIMMING: Hodags open season with pentathlon
Makenna Winnicki tops freshmen

The Rhinelander High School girls swimming team participated Wednesday in its first meet of the season with a pentathlon hosted by Colby High School.
The meet featured the swimmers in five events – the 50-yard butterfly, 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke, 50 freestyle and 100 individual medley – with awards being presented to the top six by grade.
The Hodags had three freshmen finish in the top six with Makenna Winnicki placing first overall for her grade with a total time of 3 minutes, 11.22 seconds. Winnicki went 28.72 in the 50 butterfly, 30.48 in the 50 backstroke, 36.72 in the 50 breaststroke, 27.5 in the 50 freestyle and 1:07.8 in the 100 individual medley. Lisa Kennedy (3:20.73) placed third overall with Ella Schiek (3:35.23) coming in sixth for the RHS freshmen.
The Hodags also had one overall top-six finisher in each of the other three grades with sophomore Marisa McGuire (3:20.57) placing third, junior Grace Heck (3:19.89) finishing fifth and senior Jenna Hawley (3:23.81) coming in sixth.
