Alice Ann Mueller, age 89 of Rhinelander, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at her home. She was born on Nov. 30, 1926, in Park Falls to Louis and Gertrude (Larsen) Daus.
Alice graduated from Rib Lake High School. She worked in Milwaukee for a short time before returning to Rib Lake where she married Richard Mueller on June 21, 1947. They moved to Rhinelander in 1949 where they raised their family of two children. Alice was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church and was a dedicated member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Rhinelander and later in Three Lakes. With the Auxiliary, she served in many leadership positions, as a state and national convention delegate, and volunteered at Camp American Legion in Lake Tomahawk. In earlier years, she was a regular participant in the annual Stunt Night program.
Alice enjoyed all types of needle and sewing work. Over the years, she knitted hundreds of pairs of mittens and shared these creations with anyone in need. She also enjoyed raising violets and outdoor gardening. Alice will be fondly remembered for her loving spirit and generous heart.
Alice is survived by her two children, David (Kathy) Mueller of Clever, MO and Diane (Jeff) Foss of Rhinelander; six grandchildren, Dessa, Dayna, Rachel, Erin, Dylan, and Drew; nine great grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard “Eight Ball” Mueller on November 20, 1991; a sister, Kathryn Bruegl; and two brothers, Robert Daus and Louis Daus Jr.
The funeral service for Alice will be held at 12 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at the Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) with Deacon Mike Harvey officiating.
