OBITUARY: Irene L. Moritz
Irene L. Moritz, age 92, of Rhinelander, died August 23, 2016 at Milestone Senior Living. She was born March 14, 1924, in Rhinelander, to John and Elsie (Schallock) Paremski.
Irene attended school at Zion Lutheran Grade School and was one of the oldest living members of the Zion Lutheran Church. She was an active member of Zion and the Ladies Guild until she was unable. She graduated from the Rhinelander High School in 1942 and married Carl Moritz in 1943. She was a lifelong… resident of Rhinelander. She enjoyed dancing, reading, especially westerns, bowling and telling stories of the war years while growing up in Rhinelander. Holidays were always special to her and she loved the bright lights of Christmas that celebrate the birth of her Savior.
Irene leaves behind her beloved daughters, Judith Lundin and Christi (Richard) Foster and her son, Dennis (Sherry) Moritz, all of Rhinelander. Her grandchildren who loved her so much, Korey (Martha) Lundin, Courtney (Ross) Wyman, Chad Moritz and Nicole (Erick )Wellnitz and great-grandchildren Kendall and Jackson Moritz and Natalie Wyman; other family, many friends and her sweet dog, Star. Irene had loving thoughts of her sister-in-law Alvina Church and she was the surviving member of her friends in the club and talked of all of them in her final days. They included Louise, Steno, Mary, Margie, Nelda, Serena, Ollie and Dorothy.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, in 2002; her parents; her brother David; sister-in-law Carolyn and her loving son-in-law Glenn Lundin. She was also preceded by her cousin, whom she dearly missed, Jean Cooper.
This beautiful and proud woman will always be in our hearts. She will be remembered for her love of people and animals, her radiant smile and independent spirit. She has been the highlight of our lives and we would not be who we are without her. We can only hope we do her memory proud. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the staff at Milestone, Dr. Brooks, her church family and all the Pastors that have served mom at Zion Lutheran Church, and our friends at the Carlson Funeral Home.
Visitation for Irene will be held Friday, August 26 from 9 – 11 a.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 26 at the Carlson Funeral Home with the Reverends Matthew Schoell and Richard Krahn officiating.
