Obituary: Ruth Anne Dudeck
Ruth Anne Dudeck, age 92, of Rhinelander, died Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Country Terrace. She was born in Kenosha on March 14, 1924, to Lewis and Elzena (Meyer) Powell. She is survived by two daughters, Martha (Kenn) Yance of Kenosha and Lynn Dudeck of Rhinelander; two grandchildren, Scott Yance and Kristine Yance; and two great-grandchildren, Seth and Aden Yance. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Helmuth “Hip” Dudeck, two brothers and one sister. Ruth attended school in Kenosha and was a 1942 graduate of M. D. Bradford High School. She enlisted in the Navy in 1944 and later was honorably discharged. She married Hip on May 30, 1947. They were both employed in Kenosha. In March of 1965 they purchased Stone Lake Resort in Three Lakes and owned and operated the resort until 1978. Ruth was also employed at the Northernaire Hotel, Sno-Goer Magazine and for 25 years was a telephone operator with the U.S. Forest Service, retiring in 1989. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rhinelander and was active with Mary’s Circle at the church. Visitation will be held Friday, April 29, from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service at First United Methodist Church, 724 Arbutus St., Rhinelander. Rev. Ellen Rasmussen will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Ruth may be given to First United Methodist Church, Rhinelander, or to Ministry Home Care Hospice.
