Shirley M. Gee, age 80, of Rhinelander, died February 18, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born July 3, 1935, in Harshaw to Dale and Mathilda (Grando) Isley. After her schooling, she went to work as a waitress and a cook. She worked at many different locations which included Onson’s Inn, The Holiday Inn, The Pied Piper and The Golden Shield. She later also worked at Lindey Cleaners for a short period of time. She married Allen Gee on July 11, 1953 in Rhinelander and he preceded her in death in 1984.
Shirley was most happy doing anything that involved her family, especially family game night and cards. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading and doing crossword puzzles. Even though she cooked to help support her family, she also enjoyed cooking for them, especially a big dinner on Sundays.
Shirley is survived by her three daughters, Sherry Mathison of Rhinelander, Laura (William) Wilson of Crandon and Toni (Raymond) Miller of Rhinelander; her five sons, Allen of Appleton, Gary (Susan) of Rhinelander, Scott (Lydia) of Newington, Conn., Matthew of Rhinelander and Michael (Amy) of Monico; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Patricia Barber of Rhinelander and Beverly Jaworski of Kerrville, Tex., her brother, Leroy (Marlene) Isley of Denver, Colo.; nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. In addition to her husband, Shirley was also preceded in death by her sister Lillian and two brothers Webb and Cortes.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016. Interment will be in the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery on Friday, April 15 at 12 noon.
