It’s been less than five months since construction started at the new Hobby Lobby, but for many people, it seemed a bit longer. As of Monday, Feb. 8, the wait is over.
While customers waited for the store to open at 9, Rhinelander Ambassadors met with store management and employees. Store manager Chris Schmid said so far the store has been a great success.
“We’ve had a very warm and welcoming start from the community,” Schmid said. “We’re hoping we can meet everyone’s needs so they don’t have to go anywhere else.”
The store was open Feb. 5 and 6 as a “soft” opening to make sure all cylinders were firing.
Schmid said they have 50 employees currently, hired from a pool of more than 700 applicants. All but a couple of the employees are from from the Northwoods.
The store is open Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
