Accident on Kemp Street takes down light pole
Star Journal Staff
At around 8:30-8:45 this morning, an accident involving an ACE Hardware truck knocked down a city light pole on the corner of West Kemp street and Arbutus Street.
After the driver of the ACE truck was turning west-bound onto W Kemp Street, a speeding vehicle in oncoming traffic allegedly forced the truck driver to take a sharper turn, which caught the light pole just a few feet from the curb.
The truck couldn’t be removed immediately as the light pole fell into utility wires. Police on the scene were waiting for help, at around 9:15 a.m., to remove the pole without damaging the wires before the ACE Hardware truck could be moved.
Streets one block in all directions from the intersection at W Kemp/E Kemp and Arbutus are blocked off until the accident can be cleared, which police expected within the next hour.
