Family Fishing Fun Day
In coordination with Wisconsin’s free fishing weekend, the 11th annual Family
Fishing Fun Day will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 6, at Hodag
Park in Rhinelander. This free event, sponsored by Oneida County 4-H, the
Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and other local and regional
sponsors, features multiple learning stations geared toward educating youth and
families about fishing, water safety and natural resource management.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to tie knots, put on bait and
lures, cast, clean fish, as well as meet a local conservation warden and fishing
guide, identify aquatic invasive species and meet a live educational bird of prey.
Other stations include boat and water safety, fire department, Sheriff’s
Department, minnow races and an interactive 4-H activity station. Every youth
participant will receive a fishing prize or goody bag at this event. For more
