Viewpoint: We are still at war
Editor:
I would just like to take this opportunity to add something to the letter I wrote last week (Local veterans take a back seat to political scheming 12/14/14) wherein the Oneida county board placed the Veterans service officer, Tammy Walters, on administrative leave pending their attempt to remove her from the position. We are still at war! If the reason for this removal is not anything even remotely related to her service to the veterans of this community, why, why would the county board place the needs of veterans below their own political agenda? The only answer being talked about among the veterans I speak to is that this board does not care! We are still at war! So let it be known once again that our county board has and is continuing to fail the veterans of this county by keeping Tammy Walters from her appreciated, celebrated and vital role at this county’s veterans service officer and we, as those veterans look forward to allowing this board to hear our voices on the matter whenever they decide to answer the phone or actually come out and inform all of us why they have placed themselves over the needs of the war-torn citizens of their community! We are still at war and it is appalling that while we have fought for you and our country, you have removed the only advocate that fights for us. Reinstate Tammy Walters!!!
