Viewpoint: Dump Duffy
Editor:
Congressman Sean Duffy’s October 12, 2014 e-newsletter to his constituents states, “…I stand with Israel: During this new chapter of unrest in the Middle East, our friendship with Israel is more important now than perhaps ever before in our history. Thanks very much to AIPAC’s Central Wisconsin Chapter for taking the time to meet [with me] this week.”
We should credit Congressman Duffy’s honesty in acknowledging who his friends really are. The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is an exceedingly powerful pro-Israel lobby with great financial resources. AIPAC is extremely generous to their backers in Congress.
Since Congress Duffy has unequivocally stated his support of Israel, “during this new chapter of unrest”, should we also take for granted that he is okay with the 2,200 deaths of Palestinians (500 of which were children) at the hands of the Israeli Defense Forces in its most recent attack on Gaza? Remember, Israel receives billions of our tax dollars every year along with the fighter jets that bombed the homes, hospitals, and UN shelters along with those inside into oblivion.
I wonder how Congressman Duffy can justify giving hundreds of billions of our hard-earned tax dollars to a country that is illegally occupying Palestinian territory all the while campaigning on the idea that we spend too much here at home to feed and shelter our American citizens in need.
Dump Duffy on November 4. Not to worry, he will find a very lucrative lobbying position somewhere else.
