Ministry Health Care welcomed Benjamin Abadeer, DO, to Ministry Medical Group’s general surgery department. He will be providing care at Ministry Medical Group in Rhinelander.
As a general surgeon, Dr. Abadeer can perform a variety of procedures to treat common surgical problems including thyroid masses or tumors, breast masses or tumors, gallbladder disease, colon tumors, appendicitis and hernias.
He has expertise in wound care, upper endoscopies, colonoscopies, sentinel lymph node mapping to treat breast and colon cancer, and hernia surgery. Dr. Abadeer received his medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Ill. He completed an internship in General Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and a residency in General Surgery at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Madison Heights, Mich. After completing his residency, he spent a year working with a surgical oncologist in Flint, Mich. His undergraduate degree is from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities in Minneapolis, Minn.
“I enjoy baking bread because it takes time and patience, and you need to know when to modify the ingredients to get the best result,” said Dr. Abadeer. “The same is true in surgery–each patient has their own unique situation and story that they bring to the table. My goal is to take the time to listen carefully to each patient’s needs and adjust our plan to achieve their best possible outcome. I have found the proven recipe for success is when a surgeon, his patient, and their family members are working together as a team.”
In his spare time, Dr. Abadeer enjoys making the most of the Northwoods of his home state. His interests include photography, waterskiing, alpine skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, golf and tennis. He also volunteers his time with medical missions.
