Obituary: W. Zane Holewinski
W. Zane Holewinski, 27, passed away unexpectedly, on Thursday, May 1st, 2014 at his home in Mead, Neb.
He was born in Rhinelander, WI on December 19, 1986, to the late Ronald Holewinski and the late Lesley Kirsch. Zane attended McKinley Elementary and Ben Franklin Jr. High in Stevens Point, then graduated from SPASH in 2005. He is well remembered for his cheerful demeanor and curly hair by many of his classmates and instructors. He attended UWSP and as an employee of the Portage County Humane Society he demonstrated his love of animals. In early 2012 he moved to the Omaha area and worked as a veterinary assistant. In 2013 he joined the Metro Credit Union family. As a teller, he discovered a passion and knack for the banking industry. He was recently promoted into customer service. He will be missed by the many friends and co-workers he had there. Zane was a dedicated fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and the UFC. He was an avid follower of Badger football and basketball. In his large family, Zane distinguished himself as the ‘go-to’ Uncle for a quick game of ‘Show No Mercy’ hoops in the driveway and intense sessions of Madden Football on screen. He incessantly teased his sisters while he talked sports with his brothers-in-law. He shared a love of literature, music, and comedy with his siblings and could always be counted on to laugh through an argument. He was intensely loyal and wonderfully himself. Zane lived his 27 years with a smile while surrounded by family that loved him deeply.
He is survived by his sisters: Alison (Kelsey) Garrigan, New London; Cody (Jamie) Bronk, Stevens Point; Austen Gollon, Custer; Roni (Benjamin) Passe, Mead, NE; Bailey, Stevens Point and Asa Plonsky, Stevens Point; brother Atticus Plonsky, Stevens Point; stepfather, Mark Plonsky, Stevens Point; nieces and nephews: Walker, Elijah, Luke, Shea, Mason, Jack, July, Josh, Spencer, Zachary, Sascha, Joshua and Nathan. He will also be missed by close friends Michael Braaten, Appleton; Kurt Gollon, Amherst and by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Worzella Pines Park at Lake Pacawa, 1831 Maple Drive, Plover, WI. Rev. Rebecca Iverson will officiate. Friends may call Saturday starting at noon until the time of services at the park. A private family burial will take place in Rhinelander, WI at a later date.
