Dr. James Mullen achieves board certification in sports medicine
Dr. James Mullen, Marshfield Clinic Woodruff Center, recently attained board certification in sports medicine.
Mullen, a physiatrist, has provided physical medicine and rehabilitation services to the Northwoods since 1992.
His interest in sports medicine stems from his past experiences as an athlete. He was a six-time member of the U.S. National speed skating team. He also has multiple top-200 finishes in the American Birkebeiner and in 2007 was inducted into the Wisconsin Soccer Association Hall of Fame.
Mullen and his family are very involved in wellness efforts and events promoting physical activity in the Minocqua area. He has a vested interest in the health and well-being of his community.
“I wanted to become board certified in sports medicine, because I enjoy working with athletes to help them perform at their best,” he said. “I also specialize in injury prevention as well as rehabilitation when necessary. My treatment goals are to help patients of all ages and abilities optimize their functional abilities and enhance overall health and wellness.”
Mullen is a diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. His professional affiliations include the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American College of Sports Medicine, and the Wisconsin Medical Society.
