Y offers the community the opportunity to play Pickleball
Pickleball is the fastest growing participation sport among people 55 and older in the USA and can be played at the Y in Rhinelander.
Pickleball is a game for all ages that is played on a badminton court with the net lowered to 34 inches at the center. It is played with a perforated plastic ball and wood or composite paddles and is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.
The YMCA, Rhinelander, has open play time Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m.
layers will rotate around so they can play a variety of players during the two-hour session. Paddles are available for use so that players can try the sport, but each player will need to purchase their own equipment if they are playing regularly.
Staff is available to talk about game play and rules. Pickleball is free to Y members and the general public is charged $5 per session.
