YMCA of the Northwoods hosts Big Lake Fish Boil and Dance
Once again a Door County – style fish boil is coming to Rhinelander and everyone is invited.
The Y will host its annual fish boil and dance on Friday, Sept. 13 at the Quality Inn in Rhinelander.
The Big Lake Fish Company will be cooking an all you can eat Door County-style fish boil dinner with cole slaw, pulled pork sandwich (in case you don’t eat fish), baked beans, a dessert, and coffee and lemonade. A cash bar will be open for sodas and other beverages.
“I am sure anyone who has experienced this type of fish dinner will want to attend.” Marilyn Duschl, event coordinator, said.
A fish boil is a Great Lakes culinary tradition in areas of Wisconsin like Door County. Fish is cut into small chunks and cooked in boiling water with red potatoes and onions. Salt is the only seasoning used, and the combination of everything gives the fish a delicious taste.
The JJK Trio of Rhinelander will be providing dance music to round out the nights festivities. The JJK Trio is a well known musical group that plays great music to dance to. Jeff Santy heads up the trio and is accompanied by John Santy and Jared Kropidlowski .
This event is a fundraiser for the active older adult department at the Y which provides fitness, educational and social programs for all seniors in the community.
Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. with dancing from 7 to 9 p.m. Advanced dinner and dance tickets are $15 for an adult, $10 for youth under 18 years old, and children 4 and under are free.
Tickets purchased at the door are $18 per adult and $12 for youth. Dance tickets only are $10. Tickets can be purchased at the YMCA in Rhinelander or Eagle River or by calling the Y at 715-362-9622 or 715-479-9500.
