Crescent Elementary School earns state awards
The Wisconsin RtI Center, including the Wisconsin PBIS Network, has announced the 2012-13 Schools of Distinction and Schools of Merit, recognizing their efforts in creating environments that allow for academic and behavioral achievements for all students.
Crescent Elementary School has been recognized as a School of Distinction, one of 88 schools in the state, for its school behavior plan.
The Schools of Distinction and Merit programs separately recognize schools that have made achievements in enacting Response to Intervention (RtI) frameworks for academics (mathematics and reading) and for behavior (using Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, or PBIS). All Wisconsin schools are eligible to apply for any of the awards.
Some examples of how the behavior plan has been implemented at Crescent Elementary School over the past two years include:
Peaceful Bus; Peaceful Playground; Hodag High Fives (used to recognize and reinforce positive behaviors throughout the building); Weekly classroom meetings; Awesome Attendance Program; Parent Climate Survey; Evaluation of bus and playground data; and Common Classroom Management Program.
Those recognized as Schools of Distinction will receive a banner, a letter of congratulations, recognition at the 2013 Wisconsin PBIS Network Summer Leadership Conference, in addition to an award certificate and one free registration to the 2013 Wisconsin PBIS Network Summer Leadership Conference.
The Wisconsin RtI Center is a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) funded initiative. The Wisconsin RtI Center is dedicated to ensuring that all students have equal access to supports that will ensure their long-term academic and behavioral success. Its goal is to assist Wisconsin schools with putting high quality instruction, balanced assessment, and collaboration practices and systems into operation. It provides individuals and organizations with opportunities to share their Response to Intervention (RtI) implementation experiences with others in the field.
