On Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at 7:45 p.m., Rhinelander police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of Mason Street regarding a person that had been shot.
Following officers’ arrival on scene, the scene was secured so that Rhinelander Fire Department paramedics could attend to a 49- year-old, male, shooting victim.
The shooting victim, who has injuries appearing to be critical, was transported to Ministry St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander for treatment. The victim was later airlifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. A 23-year-old male subject is currently being held in the Oneida County Jail.
This incident remains under investigation by the Rhinelander Police Department with additional assistance being provided by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
All the parties involved have been identified and the community at large should not have any safety concerns related to this matter.
