Northwoods Wildlife Center Paddle for the Wild Side
The second annual Northwoods Wildlife Center Paddle for the Wild Side will take place at Torpy Park in downtown Minocqua Sunday, July 21, from noon to 4 pm. A stand up paddleboard race will also be held at 3 p.m.
Paddle for the Wild Side is sponsored by the Chequamegon Adventure Company on Hwy. 51 in Minocqua and the Northwoods Wildlife Center, located at the corner of Hwy. 70 West and Blumenstein Road, across from Trig’s.
Those attending may rent canoes, kayaks and paddleboards for a small donation and paddle around Lake Minocqua. Personal flotation devices (PFD) and paddles will also be provided, but those who have their own PFDs and paddles are encouraged to bring them. All proceeds will go to the Northwoods Wildlife Center to help the orphaned, injured or sick animals in their care.
There will also be animal visitors from the Northwoods Wildlife Center.
At 3 p.m., The Paddle Royale, a stand up paddleboard race around Lake Minocqua Island, will be held. The course is a little over a mile. To enter the race, there is a $15 fee, $10 of which will go to the NWC. The remaining $5 will be pooled and will go to the winner of the race.
