Making Tracks: Summer brings big events to the Northwoods
Summer is in full swing in the Northwoods, finally! The chamber is getting busy with visitors coming into our area for a great Northwoods vacation. In fact, as I sit here writing this, there are about 20 people in our visitor’s center checking out all the great Hodag memorabilia we have for sale and looking at all the literature we have on businesses, attractions and all the things to do in the Rhinelander area.
We have a busy summer planned here at the chamber with community events, programs and ways to help make local businesses visible not only to visitors but also those of us lucky enough to call Rhinelander home.
The Hodag Farmers Market is in full swing every Saturday at Pioneer Park from 8 a.m. to noon. All are welcome to stop by and pick up locally grown veggies, produce, meats and other homemade products each and every week.
Don’t forget to stop by the Historical Museum Complex which is now open for the season as well. The logging museum, train depot, school house, CCC building, outboard motor display and fire barn all offer their historical view of Rhinelander.
We have a great family fun event planned for later this month on June 29 with the Hodag Block Party. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and offer tons of fun entertainment. We will have kids’ games, a bouncy house, live music, magic shows and a variety of food available. There is no admission cost to the event, but there will be a small charge to play the games. Proceeds from the games will go back to the Northwoods Children’s Museum. We would like to thank our sponsors for helping to make this fun afternoon possible. Our sponsors include R-Value Insulators, Stifel Nicolaus, Rhinelander Brewing Company, CoVantage Credit Union, Dean Distributing, Driscoll Property Management, Northland Printing and Park City Credit Union.
We also have tons of fun planned for the Fourth of July with our annual parade and fireworks. Applications for the parade are available at the chamber office. The theme this year is “Happy Birthday Uncle Sam.” The parade will kick off at 11 a.m. with fireworks beginning at dusk on Thursday evening.
Concerts on the RiverWalk at Trig’s Band Shelter will begin Wednesday, June 19 at 7 p.m. The first concert of the season will be the Rhinelander Community Band for their 30th anniversary. The concerts will continue with different music each Wednesday through August 7.
Music fans will soon congregate for the annual Hodag Country Festival held July 11 through 14, so if you don’t have your tickets for that yet, be sure to get them soon!
We have so many activities happening throughout the summer, so be sure to check our community calendar for upcoming events to keep your family busy.
We invite all area businesses to consider joining the chamber and supporting all the work we do to help keep our community vibrant and thriving. I’d love to chat with you about how your support of the chamber cannot only help support your own business but also the community!
