Library to present authors Mike Link and Kate Crowley
The Rhinelander District Library has announced that the popular Marj and Dick Peters Memorial Lecture Series will continue this year with a presentation by authors Mike Link and Kate Crowley on Full Circle Superior-A Walk around the World’s Greatest Lake on Monday, June 24, at 6:30 p.m.
The book sale/signing and chatting with the speakers will begin at 6 p.m. and continue after their presentation.
Mike Link and Kate Crowley are two grandparents in their 60s who undertook an adventure in 2010 to walk around Lake Superior as a way to celebrate Mike’s retirement from the Audubon Center of the North Woods and to bring attention to Lake Superior and the critical freshwater issue. The adventure led to writing a book, Going Full Circle: A 1,555-mile Walk Around the World’s Largest Lake. Mike and Kate will share some of their biological, physical and cultural research from the trip, as well as photos and stories from their journey.
This event is sponsored by the Marj and Dick Peters Memorial Lecture Series, which was established in 2006 to fund library programs on topics of conservation and sustainability. Longtime Rhinelander residents Marj and Dick Peters enjoyed the outdoors and were keenly interested in preserving natural resources for future generations.
Since 2006, the series has hosted 16 speakers and has developed a loyal following in the community.
