YMCA to host table tennis tournament in Eagle River
The YMCA of the Northwoods will host the Clash of the Paddles Table Tennis Tournament Saturday, April 13, at Northland Pines High School, Eagle River.
All division competitions will be held in the Northland Pines Field House. The Youth (8th grade and under) and High School divisions will begin at 10:30 a.m. The Adult A, B and C divisions will begin at noon. Participants are asked to arrive 20 minutes before the start time for a rule briefing and explanation of the format. Awards will be given to the top three places in each division. This tournament will follow most of the USA Table Tennis Tournament rules.
There will be eight tables available for the tournament. Wisconsin state ranked table tennis player Jim Weiland from the Wausau Table Tennis Club will act as tournament director. He will also be on hand to give tips on table tennis skills. During the warm-up, he will divide up players based on their skill level, which will allow for fair competition.
All proceeds from this event support YMCA active older adult programs. The tournament fee for youth and high school participants is $5. The adult fee is $10. Advanced registration is recommended by Wednesday, April 3, to assist with tournament play.
To register, call the Y at (715) 362-9622 or (715) 479-9500. Visit ymcaofthenorthwoods.org for additional information and tournament rules.
