Letter: Reader enjoys local history by Sondra Sheffer
Editor:
I personally would like to let the Star Journal know how much I appreciate Lily Kongslien’s featured article “Historically Speaking.” I love reading her articles and can’t wait to see what stories she is going to write about, whether it is about growing up in bygone eras or the city of Rhinelander itself.
My great-great-grandfather settled in Rhinelander during the logging era and I love trying to picture in my mind the way life was back in time, in our great Northwoods. I cherish Rhinelander history and find it fascinating. For what was a small trading post on the river many moons ago to the town it currently is, Rhinelander is rich in history and I am thankful we have people like Ms. Kongslien and others, such as the volunteers at the logging museum and historical museum, to keep the history alive.
Thank you for sharing the stories with the next generations, so they may not be lost in time.
Sondra Sheffer, Rhinelander
