RHS Dance Team wins national title
The Rhinelander High School Dance Team finished off a very successful season at Dance Xtreme USA Americup Nationals held in Minneapolis, Minn., Feb. 22-24, taking home their fourth consecutive national title in Varsity 2 Hip Hop. They also placed third in their division in Kick.
Head Coach Tricia Winter received National Coach of the Year Top 5 in the Nation Award. Dancer Kelly Lee was the recipient of a Distinguished Leader Award and the team received an Academic Excellence Award for having a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Earlier in the year, the team placed second at WACPC Regionals and sixth at state.
The YMCA of the Northwoods and Trinity Lutheran Church provided the team with practice space. The team also acknowledges Charlie LaHam and the school administration for their support of the dance program, and Bernie Stoehr and Kari Massey for all their help. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Department and the Rhinelander Police Department provided the team with a police escort into town on Sunday night after the competition.
