NATH receives donation from Superior Diesel
Superior Diesel recently donated $2,500 to Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing’s (NATH’s) Frederick Place shelter. This donation will allow one resident to stay at Frederick Place for 62 days. Frederick Place is the 16-bed temporary, emergency shelter that is operated by the NATH for the purpose of serving those who are experiencing homelessness in the Northwoods area.
NATH president, Bill Miller said, “The continued generosity and support of our Northwoods businesses, individuals, faith communities, civic organizations and other groups have allowed NATH to continue to serve those in need of shelter in our communities for the past two years.”
Frederick Place offers emergency shelter for families and individuals from Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Oneida and Vilas counties. NATH executive director Tammy Modic recently reported that Frederick Place has provided shelter for 196 people in its first 23 months of operation. This includes 108 men, 64 women and 24 children. In addition, 177 individuals had to be turned away because the shelter was full.
The annual operating costs for the shelter are $205,000, which breaks down to an average of $40 per person per day. These costs include 24-hour staff salaries, assessments and case management, food, utilities, supplies, insurance, equipment, repairs and maintenance.
