The Oneida County DAV van takes veterans who live in any county to the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Mich. The route begins in Rhinelander and it either travels the northern route via Lake Tomahawk, Woodruff, etc., or the eastern route via Monico, Crandon, etc. Currently, the van runs Monday through Wednesday, but beginning Jan. 2, 2013, the van will run four days per week, Monday through Thursday. On Monday and Tuesday, it will travel the northern route. On Wednesday and Thursday, it will travel the eastern route.
To make DAV van reservations, call (715) 369-6227. Seating is limited and reservations will be made on a first come, first serve basis.
The van is coordinated out of the Oneida County Veterans Service Office and the drivers are unpaid volunteers. It is because of these drivers that this free service can be offered to veterans. Those interested in becoming volunteer drivers may contact the Oneida County Veterans Service Office at (715) 369-6127.
