Letter: Companies should not be writing legislation by John Federle
Editor:
With so many of our bills/laws today being written by the actual companies the laws affect or benefit, it seems there is a great conflict of interest, like having “the fox guarding the hen house.” It seems only logical that we have people that can read, write and understand the law serving in our government. In my opinion, the people of the 12th State Senate District need someone in Madison who can read the law, write the law and interpret the law. Assembly person Tom Tiffany openly acknowledged at the WJJQ forum that the mining law he supported in the Wisconsin state legislature was written by the mining company. He’s not ready to be state senator. Accepting what the mining company has written doesn’t qualify as thoughtful or responsible leadership.
