Paddle and Trail event offers fun, food and fitness
Northern Paddle and Trail silent sport recreation club is hosting the first annual NPT Triathlon on Wednesday evening, Aug. 1.
This is a fun event for members and anyone else who wants to get to know the group. The purely non-competitive gathering includes three activities: eating, hiking and paddling. The public is welcome to join the festivities at the Perch Lake Shelter.
A potluck supper starts at 6 p.m., with a Poker Hike before and/or after the meal. A Moonlight Paddle will begin at 8:30 p.m., as the sun goes down on Perch Lake.
“Only at NPT would you find a triathlon that includes a potluck,” said Lynn Zibell of NPT. “This is just a taste of the humor and good times one finds in this group. Besides paddling and hiking, we bike, snowshoe and ski in the winter.”
The Judy Swank shelter at Perch Lake is located west of Rhinelander, following Cty. Hwy. K 6 miles west of the Hwy. 47 intersection, turning south on Washburn Lake Rd for one mile, then east on Trout Creek Rd. for one-half mile.
NPT, with more than 60 members across the Northwoods, has been hosting year-round outdoor adventures for more than 10 years. For more information, visit northernpaddletrail.org.
