Charlotte Schneider and Marilyn Duschl will be leading weekly hikes in the Rhinelander area this summer through the YMCA.
“There are many people in the area that would be more comfortable hiking new trails with a group,” said Duschl, the Y’s Active Older Adult Coordinator. “Hiking country trails is safe and beautiful, but can be intimidating to do by yourself, so the Y is offering this opportunity to anyone in the community to hike with us.”
Hikes will be held on Wednesday mornings at 11 a.m. beginning June 20. The trails chosen are for beginner hikers and most trails can be shortened or lengthened depending on the group and will last about an hour and a half. A carpool will leave the Y at 10:30 a.m., or you can meet at the trail site at 11 a.m. Directions to the trails are available at the Y or at oneidacountywi.com. Please wear appropriate clothing and bring water. Hikes will be cancelled if there is inclement weather.
Schedule of hikes:
• July 11 – Holiday Acres Hiking Trail;
• July 18 – Almon County Trail;
• July 25 – Washburn Lake County Trail.
• August hikes are to be determined.
