Quilt raffle will benefit Hospice
Quilters for Hospice is a group of generous volunteers who have been providing beautiful handmade lap quilts to hospice patients for many years. These special blankets are a constant reminder to the recipients that they are always surrounded by the compassion and comfort the hospice team provides.
Once a month, about a dozen women gather at the Ministry Home Care office in Rhinelander and spend the day working together creating quilts for our hospice patients. The industrious group will often finish more than 20 quilts in a single day. The staff choose from the array of designs to select one that best fits each individual’s personality, and deliver one to each new patient. When patients and family members learn that people they don’t even know have taken the time to hand craft a beautiful piece for their comfort, they are very moved. The quilt is a constant reminder that they are blanketed in support at all times – by hospice, and by the community.
The all-volunteer group is currently in need of fabric and supplies for this important ministry, so have donated three of their beautiful hand crafted creations to be raffled. All proceeds for this fundraiser will go toward purchasing project supplies.
With each ticket purchased, there are three chances to win! Three quilts will be awarded – one featuring song birds, a northern star wall hanging, and a full-size pastel 1930s fabrics antique replica.
Tickets for the raffle are $1 each, or six for $5, and can be purchased at the Ministry Home Care office, 1864 N. Stevens Street in Rhinelander, or call (800) 643-4663 for additional locations. The drawing will be held Monday, Aug. 20, at noon, at the Ministry Home Care office (need not be present to win).
