The City of Rhinelander Water Utility will be flushing fire hydrants in this area on Wednesday, June 27:
– Hydrants on Davenport Street in front of the Paper Mill west to Crescent Street. All streets south of Davenport Street between Sutliff Avenue and Crescent Street will be flushed. Streets included are Pelican, Highview Parkway, Hillside, Hillandale, Annette Court and Lynette Terrace..
Flushing will begin at 8 a.m. and finish around 2 p.m. Hydrants will be flushed Monday through Thursday. The system flushing could take up to four to six weeks.
During flushing you may experience a discoloration of the water in your home or business. Before doing any laundry or other projects, make sure the tap water is running clear.
The city flushes hydrants to clean out iron deposits in the water lines, to verify the hydrants are working properly and to assure continued high quality drinking water. The utility recommends users run the tap water for five or 10 minutes to purge their systems of sediment and minimize discoloration.
