The City of Rhinelander Water Utility will be flushing fire hydrants in this area on Tuesday, June 19:
– Hydrants west of town along Highway 8 east into town. From Fox Ranch Road, east into the city to West Hill Drrive. Streets include North River Road, Airport Road, Air Park Road, W. Davenport Street, Anderle Drive, Red Arrow Drive and International Drive.
Flushing will begin at 8 a.m. and finish around 2 p.m. Hydrants will be flushed Monday through Thursday. The system flushing started Monday, and could take up to four to six weeks.
During flushing you may experience a discoloration of the water in your home or business. Before doing any laundry or other projects, make sure the tap water is running clear.
The city flushes hydrants to clean out iron deposits in the water lines, to verify the hydrants are working properly and to assure continued high quality drinking water. The utility recommends users run the tap water for five or 10 minutes to purge their systems of sediment and minimize discoloration.
