Hydrant flushing notice, June 7
Updated Thurs., 6/7 – The City Water Utility will be flushing fire hydrants in this area on Thursday, June 7:
– Hydrants along Courtney Street south of Davenport Street to Oneida Avenue, and west of Oneida Avenue and north of Kemp Street. The Trig’s RiverWalk Centre area is included in this flush.
Flushing will begin at 8 a.m. and finish around 2 p.m. Hydrants will be flushed Monday through Thursday. The system flushing started Monday, and could take up to four to six weeks.
During flushing you may experience a discoloration of the water in your home or business. Before doing any laundry or other projects, make sure the tap water is running clear.
The city flushes hydrants to clean out iron deposits in the water lines, to verify the hydrants are working properly and to assure continued high quality drinking water. The utility recommends users run the tap water for five or 10 minutes to purge their systems of sediment and minimize discoloration.
