Family Fishing Fun Day coming Saturday, June 2
Updated Fri., 6/1 – The 8th Annual Family Fishing Fun Day will be held in conjunction with the Wisconsin DNR Free Fishing Weekend on Saturday, June 2, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in Rhinelander at the Hodag Park boat landing and pavilion. It is being organized by the UW-Extension 4-H Youth Development Department who is partnering with area businesses and individuals.
The line-up for this event will include 15-20 learning stations where young people and family members can learn more about fishing and the aquatic environment.
Topics may include knot tying, fishing with live and artificial baits, basics of casting, basics of fishing, water and boating safety, aquatic invasive species, free fishing on the pier, fly tying and casting, trout fishing, equipment dealers, community demonstrations and more.
The first 200 youth who register and participate will receive a free bag with an assortment of “goodies”. Youth who participate in all of the stations will also be eligible for some free drawings, courtesy of area businesses and the community.
