Retired Educators plan rummage sale
The Rhinelander Area Retired Educators Association has been a long standing organization in the Northwoods area. Comprised of more than 70 members, this state affiliated non-political group serves as watch dogs for retirement benefits as well as providing a way for retired educators to come together and socialize. Throughout the year the group meets six times and welcomes retired educators from all over the Northwoods area as well as those that spend the summers here. The group has been in existence for more than 25 years.
On Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Northwoods Community Secondary School on Pelham St., the group will host a huge rummage and bake sale. Members have been diligently cleaning out their closets, basements and homes to contribute items for this sale.
They are also looking for donations to include in the rummage sale and items can be dropped off at the school from 2 to 4 p.m. until the day of the sale. This is the first year for such an event and all proceeds raised will go toward scholarships for high school seniors who are pursuing a career in education.
