Storms disrupting electric service to WPS customers
Updated Thurs, 5/3 – A batch of thunderstorms moving through north central and northeast Wisconsin have brought torrential rains and lightning through much of the area served by Wisconsin Public Service (WPS). As of 8:45 a.m., more than 3,000 WPS customers are without power, and more storms were headed toward Stevens Point and Wausau. Lightning appears to be the major culprit in the storms at this point.
The areas most affected:
– Rhinelander with 1,600 customers out in six separate outages
– Green Bay with 700 out in eight ooutages
– Tomahawk with nearly 700 out in eight outages
