Richard A. Strelow
Richard A. Strelow, 77, of Rhinelander, died, April 26, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 10, 1934, in Milwaukee, to Jerome and Mary (Turginski) Strelow.
Richard graduated from Shorewood High School in 1952. He married the former Joan Willegal on March 2, 1957. They moved to Rhinelander in 1965. Richard worked as a road design engineer for the Nicolet National Forest for 34 years. He also served as the Town of Pelican Fire Chief from 1969-1971. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, woodworking and gardening.
Richard is survived by his sons, Marty (Kelly) of Eagle River and Mark (Colleen) of Whitewater; four grandchildren, Nichlaus, Brianna, Andrew and Amanda; two great-grandchildren, Joseph and Joan; a sister, Dorothy (Joseph) Konrath of Green Bay; a brother-in-law, Lawrence (Mary) Willegal of Milwaukee; and nieces and nephews Kathy, Mary and Larry Willegal, and numerous friends. He was preceded by his wife, Joan, in 1998; and his parents.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 2, at 11 a.m., at Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home with Chaplain John Uhlarik officiating. Military honors to follow. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
